British climber Kenton Cool, 51, reached the summit of Mount Everest for the nineteenth time on Sunday, marking another impressive achievement surpassed only by a few Nepalese Sherpas.

Cool reached the peak at 11:00 Nepalese time, according to his Instagram account. He first climbed to the top of the world in 2004 and has nearly repeated the feat every year since.

Remarkably, in 1996, the Briton suffered a severe climbing accident and believed he might never walk unassisted again.

The current record-holder is Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa, who aims to reach the summit for the 31st time this year.

This climbing season, which began on 9 May, has already seen over 50 climbers scale Everest, though tragically, two climbers from India and the Philippines have died.
