Estonia, Greece, Slovenia and Spain will host the 2029 Men’s Basketball Euro, the International Basketball Federation for Europe (FIBA Europe) announced on Thursday.
Tallinn, Athens, Ljubljana, and Madrid will each host one of the four groups, with the knockout phase to be played in Madrid.
It will be the fourth time in history and the first since 2007 that Spain hosts the European event. Greece last hosted it in 1997, while Slovenia held it in 2013. Estonia will be hosting the championship for the first time ever.
FIBA Europe also revealed that the Euro’s opening match will be held at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The aim is to attract 80,000 spectators and set a new attendance record.
This year’s EuroBasket competition will take place from 27 August to 14 September in Latvia, Finland, Cyprus, and Poland.
Belgium has been drawn in Group D, which will compete in Katowice, alongside France, Slovenia, Poland, Israel, and Iceland.
