A global operation coordinated by Europol and Eurojust has dismantled key infrastructure behind the malware used to launch ransomware attacks, the two crime-fighting agencies report.

From 19 to 22 May, law enforcement and judicial authorities took down some 300 servers worldwide, neutralised 650 domains, and issued international arrest warrants against 20 targets, dealing a direct blow to the ransomware kill chain, Europol reported on Thursday.

The operation also led to the seizure of over €3 million in cryptocurrencies, according to the agencies.

This week's crackdown was the latest in an ongoing law enforcement campaign first launched in May 2024 that targets services and infrastructures assisting in or providing access for ransomware.

It highlights the collaborative efforts being made to dismantle infrastructure critical to ransomware operations, the two agencies noted.
