Trains are once again operating as normal after a stabbing incident that left 18 people injured at Hamburg Central Station, a spokesperson for the German railway company Deutsche Bahn announced on Saturday.
Police reported overnight that 18 people were injured, as stated by the German press agency DPA. Earlier, a fire service spokesperson had reported 17 injuries, with four in critical condition, six seriously injured, and seven sustaining minor injuries.
The attack occurred on Friday evening on the platform between tracks 13 and 14, prompting a significant response from the police and emergency services. Investigators worked late into the night to gather evidence.
The suspected perpetrator, a 39-year-old woman, was arrested shortly after the incident, “without resistance,” according to the police. Investigators believe she acted alone. She is German, a police spokesperson told DPA.
