The western region of the Alpes-Maritimes in France experienced a major power outage on Saturday, affecting around 160,000 households, including those in Cannes, though the famed film festival remains unaffected.
Festival organisers confirmed the closing ceremony will proceed “under normal conditions.” The Palais des Festivals has switched to a self-sufficient power supply, ensuring all planned events and film screenings, including the closing ceremony, can continue as scheduled.
The festival will conclude on Saturday evening with the presentation of awards, culminating in the Palme d’Or for best film.
