A letter containing a suspicious powder was delivered on Wednesday to the office of Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever.

According to Brussels firefighters, one person has been isolated as a precaution but shows no concerning symptoms.

De Wever (N-VA) took it to Instagram to address the situation. "A suspicious letter arrived at 16…Thank you to all the emergency services," he wrote without revealing any further details.

Emergency services were alerted at around 13:45 regarding the suspicious letter. By 14:20, Civil Protection had also arrived, prepared to transport the letter for analysis.

Last year, similar letters were delivered in Belgium to the Interior Ministry and the State Security headquarters, and the Prime Minister's office. It was revealed in January that the powder was strychnine, a toxic substance often used for pest control.
