A car crashed into the facade of a business in the Antwerp district of Merksem in the early hours of Thursday, according to the local police.
The car’s occupants managed to escape to safety but fled before the police arrived. The car caught on fire following the incident.
"Witnesses reported hearing screeching tyres just before the accident and saw the car’s occupants running away immediately after the crash," said police spokesperson Wouter Bruyns. "The fire brigade extinguished the blaze, and the vehicle was towed. We are currently trying to identify the driver."
It is unclear if anyone was injured, given the likely two occupants fled the scene.
The affected business's facade sustained only minor damage.
