Hidden Belgium: Anju

Hidden Belgium: Anju

Overlooking a quiet square in Saint-Gilles, Sang Hoon Degeimbre’s latest Brussels eatery Anju attracts young creatives who have settled in the neighbourhood.

The interior is understated, with plain furniture, mellow lighting and Korean graphic art on the walls.

The hearty Korean food includes crispy pajeon pancakes filled with chopped vegetables, a juicy slice of pork belly wrapped in lettuce leaves and kimchi, and stir-fried octopus.

The main dishes are accompanied by the little banchan bowls of seasonal vegetables that come out of the chef’s own vegetable garden outside Brussels.
