The Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) has issued a weather warning, with a yellow alert for potential thunderstorms in Wallonia and parts of Flanders on Saturday afternoon.

In response, the Federal Public Service Interior has activated the emergency number 1722 for residents dealing with storm or water damage.

The number 1722 is intended for non-life-threatening situations, while 112 remains available for emergencies requiring immediate assistance.

Those in need of assistance from the fire brigade due to storm or water damage can submit a request through the e-counter at www.1722.be or call 1722. It is recommended to use the e-counter to avoid overwhelming the 112 emergency centres, ensuring life-threatening cases receive immediate attention.
