Elon Musk declared on X that he does not use drugs, refuting a New York Times article claiming the billionaire entrepreneur consumes large amounts of different drugs.
Musk wrote, “For the record, I DO NOT take drugs! The New York Times is lying. I tried prescription ketamine a few years ago, which I mentioned on X, so there’s nothing new about that. It helps with dark periods, but I haven’t taken it since.”
During a press conference with Donald Trump on Friday, which marked his departure from government, Musk dismissed the New York Times’ allegations about his drug use without addressing the claims in detail.
Instead, he accused the prominent newspaper of spreading “lies” about the connections between Donald Trump and Russia, saying, “Is this the same New York Times we’re talking about? Let’s move on.”
The New York Times article on Friday alleged that Musk used significant amounts of ketamine, a stimulant anaesthetic, alongside ecstasy, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and medication during the election campaign.
When a journalist asked Donald Trump on Friday evening if he was “aware of Elon Musk’s regular drug use,” the US President replied, “I wasn’t.” He added, “I think Elon is a fantastic guy,” saying, “He’s done a fantastic job, and he won’t be easy to replace.”
Elon Musk, CEO of X, Tesla, and SpaceX, had previously stated publicly that he used small doses of ketamine to combat depressive tendencies, aiding his productivity at work.
