For the first time, a Lotto participant has won a ‘dream home’, according to the National Lottery.
Since May, participants in the Lotto organised by the National Lottery have been able to win a ‘dream home’. This is possible through the ‘Lucky Lotto code’, with a ‘dream home’ being raffled each month.
The prize involves €750,000 being deposited into a blocked account with a notary, which is intended to be used for purchasing or renovating a house. If the funds remain untouched for more than three years, they are paid out directly.
This occurred for the first time on Saturday, the National Lottery reported.
However, the new game has sparked criticism from addiction experts. Psychiatrist and addiction specialist Frieda Matthys from the Free University of Brussels (VUB) expressed concern at the launch, stating that the Lottery deliberately targets a vulnerable audience. “Many young people in their twenties dream of owning a home, and this age group is particularly susceptible to addiction,” she noted worriedly.
