The Fugitive Active Search Team (FAST) of the Federal Police announced on Tuesday the arrest of Pascal Catry in Torremolinos, southern Spain.

Catry was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Maria-Christina Alba-Torres, on 24 November 2000.

The man had been on the run since 2017 and was apprehended by Spanish authorities on 29 May. He was found guilty of murdering his wife in Courcelles at the time.

In 2002, the Hainaut Assize Court handed him a life sentence. However, Catry fled the country in 2017 after being granted temporary release.

The Brussels Prosecutor’s Office took over the case in March 2025 and issued a European Arrest Warrant for him.
