Ten new lifts have been installed at the Simonis and Parc metro stations in Brussels in a move to enhance accessibility, according to a statement from Brussels Mobility. Despite the efforts, some stations are yet to be equipped with lifts.

The Simonis station now accommodates individuals with reduced mobility following the addition of six new lifts. The project also included replacing five escalators, constructing walkways, and upgrading the signage.

Additionally, four lifts were installed at the Parc metro station, along with seven new escalators. Brussels Mobility has indicated that work at Parc is nearly complete.

The regional public service has also noted that the renovation of tactile paving across the network has been ongoing since 2019 to assist visually impaired individuals. "In recent months, the system was updated in several stations such as Madou, Louise, Simonis, and soon Parc," the statement said.

The "accessibility" programme continues, with most of the network now equipped with lifts.

For the remaining stations, which present more complex challenges, projects are underway or being studied.
