The city of Ghent has announced that this year’s Gentse Feesten will kick off with a joint opening show at the Korenmarkt.
On Friday, 18 July at 18:00, the event GENT DNA – Gentse Feesten in Sound and Vision will begin at the Korenmarkt, featuring collaboration among various square organisers.
A circus tent will be set up at Sint-Pietersplein by Miramiro for two major performances. The Puppetbuskersfestival will have a permanent spot at Willem de Beersteeg, the former location of Cirq.
Councillor Joris Vandenbroucke (Voor Gent) emphasised that the success of the festival also depends on public support.
"Those who buy a drink at a square directly contribute to keeping the festival free of charge. You can support street performers by tipping into their hat or via a QR code."
The festival will run from 18 to 27 July and include 3,669 activities, with more than half offered for free.
De Lijn will provide additional buses under the G label and will operate the festival tram both day and night.
