At the request of the Limburg police department, a search notice was issued on Sunday to find a suspect involved in a robbery at Hasselt station.
On 12 March, a 57-year-old woman became the victim of a violent robbery attempt after withdrawing money from an ATM.
As the woman put her wallet back into her handbag, the suspect grabbed the bag and tried to snatch it from her grasp. The victim, however, did not let go and was dragged several metres along the ground. Bystanders intervened, causing the thief to flee.
The suspect returned to the station ten minutes later and boarded a train to Blankenberge. Surveillance cameras captured footage of him.
He is described as tall and slender, with dark hair and a receding hairline, and has a distinctive tattoo on his left hand. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey hoodie, a black raincoat with yellow accents, dark jeans, white sneakers, and carrying a black backpack.
Anyone with information about the case or suspect can contact the police on 0800 30 300, or submit an online report.
