A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Bruges on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in a café, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of West Flanders.
The local police in Bruges received a call around 04:00 on Sunday about a stabbing in the city’s nightlife district.
The suspect allegedly injured a 24-year-old man with a knife after an argument in the bathroom of the café. The victim was wounded but was not in a life-threatening condition.
Shortly after the incident, the police apprehended the suspect. After questioning, the prosecutor decided to bring charges of attempted murder before the investigating judge in Bruges.
On Monday, the judge ordered the arrest. A hearing on Friday will determine whether the suspect will remain in custody.
