A 78-year-old man from Antwerp faces a potential ten-month prison sentence and a €1,600 fine for harassing Belgian football star Kevin De Bruyne and a woman suffering from a connective tissue disorder.

The Hasselt criminal court considered the case on Wednesday. De Bruyne, who was a civil party, did not file a further claim, while the woman attended the trial.

The accused was represented by lawyer Christophe Daerden, who sought an acquittal. The man, who described himself as a “Master Healer,” “Medicine Man,” or “Energetologist,” claimed he could cure De Bruyne of his injuries. He appeared twice at De Bruyne’s house in Heusden-Zolder and repeatedly left or delivered mail, with 14 instances between 23 September 2023 and 1 October 2024. A settlement was reached with De Bruyne’s lawyer, but the details were not disclosed.

Shanna W., who suffers from a connective tissue disorder, was present in the courtroom in her wheelchair and requested €650 in damages.
