The main owner of the Jet Set nightclub, which collapsed on 8 April in the Dominican Republic, resulting in the deaths of 234 people, was arrested on Thursday, his lawyer informed French news agency AFP.
Antonio Espaillat’s arrest was confirmed by his lawyer, Miguel Valerio.
Espaillat is the head of the family that owns the club and is the first person to be prosecuted following the tragedy.
Over 50 complaints have been filed by relatives of the victims.
