Swimming enthusiasts will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the open-air swimming zone at the Bonapartedok in Antwerp this summer, with the addition of Saturdays to its schedule.

Last year, Antwerp residents experienced a pilot programme in 2024 called ‘seven swimming Sundays’ near the Museum aan de Stroom (MAS), attracting around 5,200 visitors throughout the summer. The city of Antwerp hailed it as a “great success” and decided to repeat the unique experience.

From 14 June to 14 September, both avid and casual swimmers can enjoy free swimming in the dock. Reservations are mandatory and can be made for time slots between 12:00 and 19:30. There are 1,500 swimming slots available each day.

According to the city of Antwerp, water quality is tested weekly and is currently excellent. However, there is a potential risk of blue algae developing over the summer, which would result in the dock being closed temporarily.
