De Lijn is collaborating with the operator of Bus Line 36 to enhance passenger safety following a fatal stabbing on Monday afternoon in Linkeroever, Antwerp.
The incident, which occurred around 2.30 p.m. on Ernest Claesstraat, resulted in the death of an elderly man, while the bus driver and one other person were injured.
The police and the Public Prosecutor's Office have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the knife attack, for which there did not appear to be any immediately evident motive.
The transport company is awaiting the results of the investigation, and has withheld further details about the incident.
A spokesperson for De Lijn acknowledged that other incidents have occurred in the area in recent years, such as buses being pelted with stones and an incident involving an air gun.
