Belgian brewer Duvel Moortgat has been producing Chouffe beer in the United States since late 2024, specifically in Missouri for the American market.
The decision to relocate some production was influenced by uncertainties surrounding tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, the company confirmed to Belga on Wednesday.
Duvel Moortgat has long been active in the United States, managing three breweries: Ommegang in New York, Firestone Walker in California, and Boulevard Brewing in Missouri, where the Chouffe production takes place.
For over twenty years, these US sites have primarily brewed local craft brands.
However, the production of Belgian classics from the group, such as Duvel, Chouffe, and De Koninck, was exclusively conducted in Belgium until the end of 2024.
