Three people injured in random attack on Antwerp street

A man attacked three people on the streets of Antwerp on Wednesday morning, according to local police.

The suspect initially used a bottle as a weapon, then switched to a hammer, seemingly selecting his victims at random.

Authorities apprehended a suspect, who was found carrying a knife at the time of his arrest. "There are currently no indications of a terrorist or militaristic act," the police stated.

The first attack occurred around 07:40 in Osystraat, where the assailant targeted a 17-year-old boy using a bottle.

He then moved to Plantin en Moretuslei, wielding a hammer to injure a 44-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man.

All three victims were taken to hospital, and according to initial reports, their lives are not in danger.
