Six children were taken to hospital with mild symptoms after an accident involving the use of the wrong product for soap bubbles during a recreational activity in Ghent, the city announced on Thursday.
Seven children participated in the activity; one showed no symptoms, while the other six were hospitalised as a precaution.
The city noted that the supervisor involved is very upset and accompanied the children to the hospital.
Local authorities apologised to the families, stating, "We express our full support to the parents and will assist them as best as we can."
An internal investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances of the incident and to learn from it to prevent future occurrences.
