A Dutch-speaking cyclist was seriously injured on Friday evening in a road accident at a junction in Florenville, the Luxembourg Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Saturday morning.

Around 18:22 on Friday, the cyclist, a woman in her sixties, was riding an electric bike when a car failed to give way at the intersection of Rue du Bœuf and Rue Nichelette in Fontenoille. To avoid a collision, she braked sharply and was thrown over the handlebars, landing heavily on her head. Seriously injured, she was taken to hospital and her life is in danger, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Gaume police attended the scene, using a drone to assist with their investigation. “No vehicle expert was sent, as the circumstances are clear from the testimonies gathered,” stated the prosecutor’s office.
