A convenience store in Buggenhout was robbed at knifepoint in the early hours of Sunday, leaving the shop owner injured, and three juvenile suspects have been arrested, confirmed the East Flanders prosecutor’s office.
The incident occurred around 1:00, with the shop owner being threatened with a knife and an airgun. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. It remains unclear what, if anything, the robbers managed to steal.
Local police in the Buggenhout/Lebbeke area arrested three suspects shortly after the incident. The suspects include two 17-year-olds and one 15-year-old. Two are from Dendermonde and one is from Lebbeke.
The arrested juveniles will be questioned, and following the questioning, the prosecutor will decide whether they should appear before a juvenile judge.
