On Sunday afternoon, two people were taken to hospital following a stabbing during a fight in Anderlecht, Belgium.
Medical examinations are still ongoing, but the Brussels fire brigade reported that the victims do not appear to be in life-threatening condition.
Emergency services were called to a violent altercation on Bergensesteenweg near the Anderlechtsepoort at around 17:30, according to fire brigade spokesperson Walter Derieuw. Three individuals were involved in the fight, during which knives were reportedly used.
Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and the injured were transported to the hospital. Derieuw stated, “They are likely not in life-threatening condition.”
The recent incident follows a pattern of violent attacks in the Anderlecht area. After several shootings earlier this year, the police raided the Peterbos neighbourhood in the district amid ongoing drug wars on 11 June, leading to 23 detentions.
Whether this latest occurrence is in any way related to the previous events is yet unclear.
