An Iranian missile strike on a US base in Qatar has sparked international concern and outrage, with Saudi Arabia condemning the attack as “unacceptable and unjustifiable.”

French President Emmanuel Macron called for an end to the “spiral of chaos” and expressed solidarity with Qatar on social media platform X.

Support also poured in from the Middle East, with the United Arab Emirates condemning the attack in “the strongest possible terms.” Saudi Arabia criticised what it described as “Iranian aggression” and promised in a statement to “support Qatar in all measures it takes.”

Qatar has warned that it can respond “in a manner proportional to the nature and extent of this brutal aggression.”

The Iranian attack reportedly targeted the US base in the Gulf state, in retaliation for the US bombings of nuclear sites in Iran. According to Qatar, the Iranian missiles were intercepted, and no casualties were reported.
