The Brussels North police reported on Tuesday that they had successfully seized 128.4 kilogrammes of cocaine in a van during a routine BOB check (dedicated to preventing driving under the influence) on 13 June, around 15:30.

It was a team of motorcyclists who were tasked with intercepting vehicles and conducting the necessary checks, eventually resulting in the discovery of large amounts of white powder in a van. "The vehicle was towed by the authorities and the driver was placed under arrest," according to the Brussels North police.

The confiscated drugs could be worth up to €6 million, according to the first estimations, signalling a major coup for the police forces.

The Brussels public prosecutor's office has since taken over the case and will conduct a thorough investigation process into the origin of the cocaine.
