In the early hours of Tuesday, just after 2:00, an explosion occurred at a house on Comfortalei in the Antwerp district of Deurne, police confirmed.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The front door of the house was destroyed and charred, with damage visible inside, including to tiles in the hallway. A window above the door was shattered, and a hatch leading to the cellar was broken.

The loud bang startled the neighbourhood, prompting several residents to call emergency services. The police immediately surveyed the area but have yet to apprehend any suspects. An investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and determine any possible links to the drug trade.

A forensic team is conducting a thorough examination of the scene, and a perimeter has been established to safeguard evidence and ensure safety. The bomb disposal unit, DOVO, has also been notified.

In addition, police confirmed on Tuesday morning that shell casings were found near the site of the incident, indicating that shots may have been fired.
