Genk is preparing to welcome over 100,000 music enthusiasts from Friday as the free city festival, Genk on Stage, kicks off.

More than 128 artists will transform the city’s centre into a vibrant music hub across ten stages. The Great International State Orchestra of Genk will open the musical weekend on Friday, featuring performances from acts such as Bizkit Park, Bomfunk MC’s, Das Pop, X!NK, and the Guy Swinnen Band.

Bizkit Park will pay homage to nu-metal on the Main Stage on Friday, followed by the Guy Swinnen Band. On Saturday, Limburg-based hip-hop artist Dikke will take the stage at the Hete Kolen stage with a live band. Das Pop will make a comeback on the Main Stage, with Bomfunk MC’s closing the day, and on Sunday, 2Fabiola will have the honour of closing the festival. The Main Stage will also see performances from X!NK and Niels Destadsbader on Sunday, while Dutch rapper ICE and vlogging sensation Bankzitters are set to appear on the Hete Kolen stage.

Aside from music, there’s plenty happening around Genk this weekend. Over 20 cafés will set up their own stages, outdoor bars, extra terraces, and food stalls. Basketball enthusiasts are also in for a treat as the Crelan 3×3 Masters takes over Kerkplein, turning it into a bustling basketball court on Saturday, 28 June.

The festival encourages attendees to arrive by bicycle, but for those opting for public transport, the city ensures smooth connectivity. Four free shuttle buses will continuously loop, linking Genk’s neighbourhoods.

The free festival runs from Friday to Sunday in the city centre of Genk.
