A juvenile court in Dendermonde has remanded three minors suspected of armed robbery to a secure youth facility pending further investigation, the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday.
The three teens are suspected of robbing a night shop on the Provinciale Baan in Buggenhout, East Flanders, on the night of Saturday 21 June to Sunday 22 June.
The shop owner was threatened with a knife and a BB gun, a type of air gun that resembles a real firearm. He sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
Shortly after the robbery, police from the Buggenhout/Lebbeke zone apprehended three minors: two 17-year-olds from Dendermonde and Lebbeke, and a 15-year-old from Dendermonde.
The suspects were arrested and questioned.
Following consultation with the East Flanders prosecutor’s office, they were brought before the juvenile court on Tuesday.
