Train traffic to and from Brussels Airport is interrupted on Tuesday afternoon due to a malfunction in the overhead line since 15:35. It is currently unclear how long the disruption will last.

According to Infrabel, the problem is a shutdown of the overhead line. The problem is located at the platform tracks of the station at the airport in Zaventem. The technical teams are working and are trying to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Since it is cool in the tunnel under the airport, Infrabel cannot immediately link the malfunction to the heat.

Heat-related train problems are being reported elsewhere in the country. Due to a malfunction in a switch, the S-trains Antwerp-Central - Noorderkempen (Brecht) have been cancelled.

Around 15:15, a freight train also broke down in Haacht, between Mechelen and Leuven. Two trains from national railway company SNCB/NMBS are behind that train. One of them is said to have no air conditioning. Earlier in the day, there had already been a number of minor incidents on the track.
