The intersection of Chaussée de Buda and Chaussée de Haren has now been adorned with a new, large-scale mural, titled 'Au bord du canal' ('At the Canal's Edge').
Located at a crossroads that straddles Haren, which is part of the City of Brussels, and Vilvoorde in Flemish Brabant, the mural is part of the Parcours Street Art or Street Art Trail.
Created by French artist Nadège Dauvergne, the artwork explores themes such as nature, landscapes, and still life. It is inspired by the painting 'Shop Near Saint-Michel Mill' by Belgian artist Jean-Baptiste Van Moer (1819-1884), depicting the Brussels canal at the junction of Haren and Vilvoorde.
Dauvergne's technique involves colourful cross-hatching techniques reminiscent of Pointillism.
This mural marks the 70th anniversary of the construction of the Buda Bridge and is part of the Border Buda project, a three-year cultural project focusing on the Buda area, an industrial zone spanning Machelen, Vilvoorde and Brussels..
