In Czechia, power is gradually being restored after a major outage, according to the CTK news agency. The power had gone out in large parts of the country, Belga News Agency reports.
The outage affected eight of the 44 most important substations in the electricity grid. The grid operator is restarting them all.
Metro and tram services have resumed in the capital Prague. Prague Airport was not affected by the outage. Payment systems and mobile networks also continued to function.
According to network operator CEPS, the cause of the power outage is unclear. Police say there are no indications that it was sabotage.
This is the second major power outage in Europe this year. In April, more than 50 million people in Spain and Portugal were left without power.
