In the Haaggatstraat in Kortenberg, a 44-year-old driver drove into a house on the night of Friday to Saturday. The man was under the influence of drugs and was driving without a licence.
The accident happened at around 00:45. For reasons still unknown, the driver veered off the carriageway and then collided with the house. The middle-aged man drilled through the facade, and a window also suffered. The Flemish Brabant West fire brigade came to the scene to shore up and seal the house. The occupants were at home at the time of the accident, but were not injured.
The 44-year-old driver also miraculously got away unscathed. The alcohol check was negative, but a positive saliva test showed that the man was on the road under the influence of drugs. He was also driving without a valid driving licence. His vehicle, which was towed after the accident, was found to be unregistered, untested and uninsured. The man in his forties was arrested and taken in for questioning.
