The Royal Meteorogical Institute (RMI) issued a code yellow weather warning for the entire country on Monday morning, expecting intense showers and cloudy skies.

The weather warning is in effect from 07:00 until 21:00 on Monday.

The day begins with cloudy skies. Local showers will remain intense throughout the day and maximum temperatures will range from 13 to 19°C.

In the afternoon, the weather will become drier and clear spells will expand from the coast. The improvement in conditions only applies to the east of the country in the evening.

The atmosphere will be quite cool with temperatures ranging from 13°C in the High Fens to 19°C in the centre of the country.

The moderate northwest wind will sometimes become quite strong in the northwest of the country in the afternoon with gusts up to 50 km/h.

Along the coast, the wind will be quite strong from the north-northwest with gusts around 60 km/h.

A yellow alert for rain has been issued for all provinces and is in effect from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

"Taking into account what will still fall today and what already fell yesterday, cumulative precipitation will be between 25 and 50 l/m² in 24 hours in many places, or even more in very localised areas," the IRM stated.
