A cyclist was hit by a tram on Thursday morning on Boulevard Léopold III near Evere Shopping stop, according to the Brussels-North police zone (PolBruNo).

The accident, which occurred around 09:00 as the tram was leaving the depot, has led to a partial suspension of tram line 62 service, which continued through late morning.

The tram was not carrying passengers, according to the spokesperson for the police zone, Audrey Dereymaeker.

The cyclist, conscious at the scene, was attended to by emergency services and taken to hospital for treatment. "Doctors have yet to comment on his condition," Dereymaeker added.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.

The cyclist was transported to Paul Brien Hospital under the escort of emergency medical services, confirmed Brussels’ fire department spokesperson, Walter Derieuw.

Tram 62 is currently not operating between Léopold III and Da Vinci stops, according to Stib. The service of bus line 66 operating nearby is unaffected.
