The Verviers Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced a couple in their sixties to four years and three years in prison respectively, half of it suspended, for committing sexual acts in front of a two-year-old child and, in some cases, involving the child in the acts.
The couple had only been dating for a few months when the woman said she caught her partner sexually assaulting her granddaughter. A complaint was filed, but the investigation revealed a video of the scene, filmed by the plaintiff, on her computer, .
The couple was charged with sexual assault of a very young minor.
The defendant admitted to "seriously slipping up, but at the insistence of his partner, who very often took the initiative in sexual games."
The woman claimed that she was under her partner's control, but admitted to having a sexuality that she described as deviant.
Psychological assessments showed that she followed her partner's scenarios out of a need to maintain their relationship, which led to a dynamic of domination.
However, she denied the facts concerning her granddaughter and claimed to have been drugged.
The psychological assessment of the man indicated a lack of boundaries and the need for psychological follow-up. The court therefore imposed a suspended sentence for half of the penalties imposed.
