Over 242,000 Belgians own one or more properties abroad, according to figures from the Federal Public Service Finance, reported by L’Echo and De Tijd on Saturday, marking an increase of nearly 10% from the previous year.

Of this total, the vast majority, 196,440 individuals, own just a single property outside Belgium. There are 46,167 Belgians who own multiple properties abroad, with nearly 30,000 of them holding two residences.

Almost half (40%) of these properties were purchased in Spain. France ranks second with 24% of the properties, followed by Italy at a distant 9.6%.
