Brussels prosecutor Julien Moinil is reportedly under a "very serious and imminent" threat according to the Coordination Unit for Threat Analysis, as sources confirmed to Belga.

The legal officer has already been under police protection in recent weeks before the threat against him rose to Level 4 recently, which is the highest possible degree, described as "very serious and imminent." The National Crisis Centre and the public prosecutor's office did not confirm the news for personal security reasons.

Moinil has made concerted efforts to shut out drug trafficking in Brussels, approving full-scale police operations and house searches across the capital. A police raid in Anderlecht's infamous Peterbos district proved particularly effective, while new arrests against drug dealers continue to be carried out on an almost daily basis.

Moinil assumed his role as head of Brussels' public prosecutor's office in January, outlining his intentions to crack down on drug dealings ravaging the city shortly after.
