The Flemish government has reached agreement on infrastructure investments related to mobility for the coming years.
This was a key issue for the N-VA/Vooruit/CD&V coalition, which wanted to finalise it before the Summer recess.
Flemish Mobility Minister Annick De Ridder (N-VA) has been allocated €2.2 billion per year for infrastructure for the remainder of the legislative term. The region's Integrated Investment Programme defines how this budget will be allocated.
In the coming days, it will become clear how much each province will receive. A significant debate continues between urban and rural areas.
One of the contentious projects is a proposed bicycle bridge over the River Scheldt in Antwerp, which would cost an estimated €250 million.
