A Bruges judge has issued arrest warrants for two young men connected to a brawl at Bruges station, with one placed under electronic surveillance, according to the Bruges section of the West Flanders prosecutor’s office.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 7:00, when two groups of youths clashed, escalating into a fight involving knives. Two individuals were hospitalised but were not in life-threatening danger.
The prosecutor’s office charged a judge with investigating attempted murder and intentional assault. Following their hearings, five suspects, aged 19 and 20 and hailing from Merelbeke, Zelzate, Torhout, and Blankenberge, were to appear before the investigating judge.
The judge decided to incarcerate one suspect and place another under electronic surveillance, allowing the latter to serve preventive detention with an ankle bracelet. A third suspect was released under conditions, while the other two were discharged. Meanwhile, a sixth suspect, a 19-year-old woman, was detained and was due to appear before the judge later on Tuesday.
