Two individuals linked to the international terrorist network ‘764’ are being monitored by Belgium’s Coordination Unit for Threat Analysis (OCAM), as reported by De Morgen on Wednesday.

The report was based on a response from Interior Minister Bernard Quintin to a parliamentary question.

American and European intelligence services are warning against "nihilistic violent extremism," a classification given by the FBI to the group named ‘764’.

This group is raising concerns among Belgian security services. Its members subscribe to a mix of extremist ideas rooted in nihilism and neo-Nazism. Elements of Satanism are also part of their ideology, making ‘764’s beliefs particularly diffuse.

Supporters of the group are not afraid to commit serious offences. They gain status by sharing images of their violent actions with one another.

"The fascination with violence seems to outweigh the ideology," commented OCAM chief Gert Vercauteren in the Flemish newspaper.

"The fact that two members are now on OCAM's list indicates that they are indeed dangerous," noted MP Paul Van Tigchelt, a former Minister of Justice and head of OCAM, who initiated the parliamentary question.

Last year, various individuals linked to the group were arrested for child pornography, kidnapping and murder in at least eight countries, including two men in Germany, according to Der Spiegel.
