A 20-year-old motorcyclist has died following a road accident in Houtave, West Flanders, local police reported on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 20:40 on Brugsesteenweg. The motorcyclist was heading towards the coast when a van from the opposite direction attempted a left turn into a driveway.
The young man collided with the rear of the van and subsequently crashed into another oncoming vehicle. Emergency services arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, the motorcyclist did not survive. The deceased, from Wingene, died at the scene from the impact.
The Bruges section of the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office has appointed a traffic expert to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
