Websites such as LibGen, Z-Library, and OceanofPDF that provide access to pirated books will be actively blocked, as announced by Le Soir, La Libre, and L’Echo on Friday.

The Dutch-speaking commercial court ruled in favour of Belgian authors and publishers on Wednesday. It ordered these sites to cease their illegal activities.

Additionally, telecom intermediaries are required to take necessary steps to prevent further infringements, under the threat of a half-million euro fine.

In early July, professional federations including Adeb, Copiebel, Librius, Gewu, Gau, Vav, and Scam filed a unilateral motion in the Brussels commercial court to block access to pirated book sites such as LibGen, Z-Library, and OceanofPDF.

These sites not only pirate their books but also allow developers to train artificial intelligence models with them.
