The suspected gunman in a shooting at a shopping centre in Oslo has been taken into custody after turning himself in to police, officials announced at a Sunday press conference.
The suspect, a man in his 20s or 30s, was already known to authorities.
The shooting took place on Saturday afternoon at the Tveita Centre. According to Knut Lutro of Oslo police, a dispute between two groups escalated during a planned meeting, leading to a fight in which one person brandished a weapon and fired multiple shots.
The exact motive remains unclear, and it is too early to determine any links to criminal activity, police stated.
One individual, a man aged between 40 and 50, was shot and seriously injured, although his life is not in danger. He, like the suspect, is a foreign resident of the region and known to police. Additionally, a woman sustained minor injuries after falling during the ensuing panic.
Tveita Centre, with around 60 stores, is one of the larger shopping centres in Oslo, located a few kilometres east of the city centre.
