The Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) has urged Belgian businesses that may have been hacked via Microsoft’s SharePoint servers to come forward, CCB spokesperson Katrien Eggers announced on Tuesday.
On Monday, several malicious intrusions were reported on SharePoint servers in the United States and the Netherlands. Eggers said: “We take the situation very seriously.”
The CCB is assisting companies by providing advice and updates to enhance their security systems.
Microsoft has launched a new security update enabling users to counter active attacks on local servers.
The CCB does not yet have a clear picture of any cyberattacks specifically targeting SharePoint servers in Belgium.
Workers using SharePoint have been advised to change their passwords.
The CCB said it will protect the anonymity of any affected companies.
