A shooting took place in Anderlecht in the early hours of Tuesday morning, the public prosecutor’s office has confirmed.

The incident happened just after 02:00 on Tuesday, near to the Clemenceau metro station.

The victim of the shooting was reportedly shot in the knee, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office told The Brussels Times: “The investigation is ongoing. In the interests of the investigation, no further comment will be made at this stage.”

According to SudInfo, four shots were fired. The incident was filmed by a witness, and the video reportedly shows a group of five people taking refuge in a café on the Chaussée de Mons, with one of them limping.

Anderlecht has been blighted by a spate of shootings in recent months. This is the latest in a series of attacks that have taken place in the commune since the start of the year, including a shooting that took place outside Clemenceau metro station in February.
