A brawl following an attempted robbery in the Brussels municipality of Sint-Gillis on Friday afternoon left three people injured, according to emergency services.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Paul Dejaerlaan in Sint-Gillis. Three men allegedly attempted to steal items from a shop but were chased away by the shopkeepers. The alleged robbers later returned, armed with a traffic sign and a box cutter, leading to another confrontation with the shopkeepers. Employees from a nearby bar also became involved in the skirmish, according to Bruzz.
During the commotion, three individuals were injured. One of the alleged robbers suffered serious head wounds, while a shopkeeper and a bar employee sustained minor injuries.
The Brussels South police (Anderlecht/Sint-Gillis/Vorst) responded by securing the area, which forced several businesses to close temporarily. The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office was informed and has launched an investigation, but was unable to comment on the details by Friday evening.
