US President Donald Trump on Monday announced a revised deadline of “10 or 12 days” for Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the conflict in Ukraine or face severe US sanctions.
Speaking from Turnberry in Scotland, Trump expressed frustration at the lack of progress towards ending the war. "There is no reason to wait,” he said.
In mid-July, Trump had given Putin 50 days to cease hostilities in Ukraine, warning of harsh sanctions and indicating significant military support to Kyiv through NATO.
Ukraine welcomed Trump’s stance on Monday, praising his decisiveness on social network X (formerly Twitter).
Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Administration, thanked Trump for sending a “clear message of peace through strength.”
